River Kwai - Where to Stay

Image
After a long train journey , we arrived at Nam Tok, hopped onto a tuk-tuk and reached our hotel. The hotel we booked is Star Hill River Kwai Resort. We spent some time survey which hotel or resort to stay at River Kwai, since there are quite alot choices and not to forget our main purpose of visiting River Kwai is for the River Kwai International Half Marathon . Initially, we planned to stay at River Kwai Village Hotel since the marathon was held there. We can just walk out from our hotel room and get to the starting line on the race day. However, the rooms are sold out few months before the race!!!! River Kwai Village Hotel Pros: -Not need to worry about transportation from hotel to the race venue, since starting and finishing line are at the hotel. Cons: -Rooms sold out fast, act fast! -Room rate quite high. Entrance of River Kwai Village Hotel and our rented motorbike :P The long green path entering the hotel :) Mystery hidden gem at

Click HERE for the full itinerary. We landed at Bangkok in the late evening, then we took a cab to Thonburi.  We stayed one night at Riski Apartment, or more commonly being known as Wasit Apartment by locals. The guest house is just normal, but it is clean and with an attached bathroom. Riski Apartment. Hidden in a residential area. Why Thonburi but not any other places around Bangkok? This is because we are going to take a train to River Kwai on the next day! Thonburi is the place where the train station located and we chose a guest house which is within walking distance to the train station. Smart traveller :P Thonburi station :) Before we reached Thonburi station, we passed-by a "train market"!  The market is really just next to the train railway. Too bad we didn't meet a train passing by here. Haha, but we managed to spend some time in the market :) How to go to River Kwai from Bangkok: By car – around 2.5ho
