Mount Rinjani - Day 3 Back to Sembalun Village

Image
Selamat pagi. Today is day-3 of our Mount Rinjani hike. So we would be going back to Sembalun Village from Pos 3! After the summit hike the day before, we are all exhausted but recharged after a good sleep at Pos 3. Seem like we did a good choice of not going to Crater Senaru. Hehe. After a good breakfast (we had pineapple pancake and sandwich today), we started our way to descend back to Sembalun Village :) Waving goodbye to Pos 3. From Pos 3 (1800m) back to Sembalun Village (1156m). After the summit hike, everyone was in more relax mood, and excited since finally we get to bath LOL. This is one of the challenge of Mount Rinjani hiking since we cannot bath throughout the 3 days hike T.T Playing around with the baskets carried by our porter. It is not an easy job at all, heavy and would be very difficult due to the not so good road condition. View from some where around Pos 2. We Spent around 4 hrs from Pos 3 to Sembalun Village. After that, we b...

Mount Rinjani - Day 2 Summit Rinjani (3726m)

Time to conquer the peak! We wake up 1am plus in the early morning. The weather was so cold that we wrapped up like a dumpling LOL. Milk and cereal was served as a light breakfast before we started the hike. Around 2am, we departed for the summit! The sky is still dark of course so a head lamp is a must. It was a tough hike for us due to the low temperature and also the route condition. At the beginning of the trek, the route is still condition normal. Towards the end, the route is getting more and more steep. The "sandy" route condition made us frustrated since it is really difficult to walk on and the progress is slow. Felt like we moved up 3 steps and slide down 1 step... The closer we were to the summit, the more rest stop we had. Thin air, low temperature and the sandy route made our steps heavier and heavier. I never think that hiking stick is so important. But for this case, hiking stick is really useful! So pl...

Mount Rinjani - Day 1 Crater Sembalun (2639m)

Selamat Pagi. After a good sleep we are ready to conquer Mount Rinjani. We repacked our luggage and those not necessary items were packed and passed to our tour agent. They would bring our extra luggage and meet us again after 3days. All of us have to pack light for the coming 3days hike. After simple breakfast at the hotel, we departed around 8am. Don't be surprise that our starting point is our hotel! Target today is to hike from Sembalun Agro Villa and Restaurant until our camp site of first night - Crater Sembalun. From our villa, we walked through farms, towards our destination :) One step closer :) We spent around 3hrs to reach pos 2. It is time for lunch and our porters set up a temporary tent to cook for us. Chill time while waiting lunch to be served :) There are 3 types of hiking package. Food is different of course and the next significant point is the tent! Type 1 is luxury where you get to dine in a tent with chairs and t...

Mount Rinjani & Gili Air 5D4N Itinerary 2017

Selamat pagi. Finally it is time for us to write about our Mount Rinjani hiking trip plus Gili Air island trip :P it happened on November last year, not too late to share our hiking story LOL! Generally this is quite an easy trip since what we need to do is book air ticket, find a reliable tour agent at Lombok, choose a package, do payment and fly there :P The most difficult part is training beforehand to get ready for the 3days 2nights hike!!! Generally package offered by tour agents here are quite similar. For our case, the package included all transportation, accommodation and hiking expenses. Since we are going to stay 3d2n at Mount Rinjani, there are 6 porters and 2 guides (one trainee) followed us all the way. Porters are responsible to carry all food, water, cooking utensils and tents, while hikes carried their own necessities throughout the three days. Salute them! Our tour agent is Rinjani Trekking Club, Senggigi. Highly recommended them, professional, sincere, h...
