Must do thing at Kanchanaburi? Must see thing at Kanchanaburi?  Bridge over River Kwai ? Kanchanaburi War Cemetery ? What else?  Well, we managed to explore Kanchanaburi throughout out short stay over there, and we found the hidden gem LOL :P i) Japanese Garden A small hidden garden behind River Kwai Train station. A very photogenic place which might make you wonder are you really in Thailand LOL :P Welcome! It is actually a tea house or cafe, too bad it was closed the time we were there. Goku!!!! ii) Kanchanaburi train station The last time we were here was few days ago, where we were on the train to Nam Tok. This time, we reached here by bicycle LOL :P Road leads to the train station. Here is very much less crowded compared to River Kwai station. So if you would like to have some peaceful photo shoots with railway or even train, Kanchanaburi station is always the better choice compared to River Kwai station.  ...

Time to talk about food again :P What to eat at Kanchanaburi  ? We would like to talk about 2 restaurants that we like throughout out short stay at Kanchanaburi. No. 1: Blue Rice Restaurant (Apple's Retreat) I believe that this restaurant would appear on your screen if you key in "What to eat at Kanchanaburi" in your Google search tab :P  Blue Rice Restaurant is a restaurant under Apple's Retreat, which is a guest house and travel service provider. Not only the food, this place is famous with cooking class provided too! It is not exaggerate to say that Apple's Retreat is having the best cooking class in Kanchanaburi which covers Traditional Thai and organic cookery workshop! One cooking course is 1550Baht, including ingredients and recipes book. After spending three days two nights at SaiYok (River Kwai) for the RKIHM 2015 , we back to Kanchanaburi town. Commuting to the town is easy with an hour bus ride from the bus station at SaiYok. The journey passed by entrances to Erawan National Park and Tiger Temple.  Erawan National Park is well known for its seven-tiered waterfall and it is also recognized as one of the most beautiful national parks in Thailand. For the infamous Tiger Temple, it was raided and forced to shut down early this year for animal mistreatment and keeping them without permit. It was raining the time we reached Kanchanaburi. Hopped onto a tuk-tuk and we reached our guesthouse at Kanchanaburi, Chitanun Guest House. A non air-cond and non hot shower room costs us 250Baht. It is a good deal! We landed at Bangkok in the late evening, then we took a cab to Thonburi.  We stayed one night at Riski Apartment, or more commonly being known as Wasit Apartment by locals. The guest house is just normal, but it is clean and with an attached bathroom. Riski Apartment. Hidden in a residential area. Why Thonburi but not any other places around Bangkok? This is because we are going to take a train to River Kwai on the next day! Thonburi is the place where the train station located and we chose a guest house which is within walking distance to the train station. Smart traveller :P Thonburi station :) Before we reached Thonburi station, we passed-by a "train market"!  The market is really just next to the train railway.
