Standard Chartered Kuala Lumpur Marathon 2016: Full Marathon Race Report

Three years after my first full distance marathon at Penang Bridge , I made a comeback for the Standard Chartered Kuala Lumpur Marathon 2016 (SCKLM). This year, with the new cut-off time being extended to 7 hours for FM category, it is guaranteed to be more participations and fun. It was not an usual Sunday morning, I had to wake up at 1.30 a.m. and drove to Kelana Jaya LRT station. Boarding the LRT was a wise choice, you can save up the time looking for limited car park at nearby Dataran Merdeka. The train also stops lesser along the journey and believe me, you will be right into the running mood with bunch of avid runners riding the midnight marathon train!! 2016 - The Most Interesting Running Events Happening in KL Selangor and Genting

The number of races in Malaysia continue showing an upward trend in 2016. This year, we observe more theme-based running events are introduced and most received good responses in the areas of Penang, KL, Selangor and Johor. On the contrary, the tight running schedule for some of the major races in Malaysia definitely would leave the runners ponder before taking on. In this post, we are presenting our top most-anticipated running events, with categories ranging from ultramarathon, 42km, city relay and obstacle based race.  1. Route 68 Challenge (ENDED) Description: The second edition of Route 68 Challenge promised a remarkable challenge for the ultra-runners with its 50 km and 70 km race routes. Stronger than Route 68 Challenge 2016 : 50 km Race Report

Everyone knows that completing a 42.195 km full marathon isn’t an easy feat. To go beyond the distance, I have decided to participate in the Route 68 challenge 50 km category. This April 2016, it is the second edition of the challenge. Considering myself as a newbie to the ultramarathon, we decided to reach to the race site as early as 5am using the bus service arranged by organizer. To prepare myself in endurance running, I have engaged myself in functional training classes (by Country Club Fitness ) and do hiking / running around KL parks at least three days weekly. The race venue on 10 April 2016 Mandatory item (blinker, mobile, hydration belt and headlamp) display (and reflective vest) Back at the race site, after performing our mandatory item check, the 50 km category race flagged off at 7am.
