Chom Bueng - Race Kit Collection & Farm Village Resort

Image
After Ratchaburi, we traveled to Chom Bueng by Minivan. Roughly a 40-min journey, we reached Rajabhat University which is the starting point for Chom Bueng Marathon as well as race kit collection place. The minivan, convenient, fast and reasonable price! Getting ready for the marathon! Race kit collection area, very systematic and well-decorated LOL :) The running route. Information regarding the race is all being displayed there, so there is no any booklet or brochure in the race kit.  The very dedicated cheer leaders under rehearsal! We were impressed by the cheer leader team last year, and this year they didn't fail to amaze us with their energetic performance :) Good job kids!! After race kit collection, our farm stay owner picked us up and after a ten minutes distance journey, we arrived at the farm village resort, second visit as well :P Click HERE for our first visit :) One year past, the farm village resort had expanded their area, bigger tent...

Ratchaburi - Day Time Food Hunting

Image
Good morning Ratchaburi! It is time to explore the morning market :P Hehe, it is always fun to walk into the local market to hunt for food. Our first stop of the day is hawker stall beside the road :P this is our second visit LOL, we been here during our first visit to Ratchaburi last year :P Kick start the day with soy milk, pao and Chinese fried churros. Second stop is a random chicken rice stall :P love the generous portion of chopped chinese parsley on the rice! The rice is nice! Nicer than those famous chicken rice at Bangkok that you need to queue for! No wonder the stall is crowded with locals early in the morning :) Then we walked into the wet market and stopped by at hawker session next to it. Third stop is porridge with some side dish. This is more to Chinese stlye We had pickled radish served with chili (abit spicy, sour and salty) and fried egg with pickled radish. We love pickled radish from Thailand! Hehe, one of the must-buy-item from Th...

Gili Air - Leisure Time on Island

Image
Gili Air, we are here!!! It was really a smart choice of choosing to spend one night at Gili Air after conquering Mount Rinjani, before departing back to Malaysia. Hehe, it would be perfect if we able to spend few more days LOL. There are few islands nearby Lombok, we chose to stay at Gili Air. According to our guide, Gili Air is more to leisure and relaxing. While Gili Trawangan is a party heaven and Gili Meno is a paradise for honeymoon.  Gili Air is a small island where you get to see local kids play water by the beach, horses are used to give tourist a ride.  Our stay of the day is 7 Sea Cottage, within walking distance from the jetty :) The room is huge, haha, is really with a huge garden before entering into the room, and the room came with a huge bathroom! The garden before entering our room :) Thanks for the hospitality. The room was well-decorated with fresh flowers :) Even in the bathroom :) The place we had our breakfast! Super l...

Mount Rinjani - Day 3 Back to Sembalun Village

Image
Selamat pagi. Today is day-3 of our Mount Rinjani hike. So we would be going back to Sembalun Village from Pos 3! After the summit hike the day before, we are all exhausted but recharged after a good sleep at Pos 3. Seem like we did a good choice of not going to Crater Senaru. Hehe. After a good breakfast (we had pineapple pancake and sandwich today), we started our way to descend back to Sembalun Village :) Waving goodbye to Pos 3. From Pos 3 (1800m) back to Sembalun Village (1156m). After the summit hike, everyone was in more relax mood, and excited since finally we get to bath LOL. This is one of the challenge of Mount Rinjani hiking since we cannot bath throughout the 3 days hike T.T Playing around with the baskets carried by our porter. It is not an easy job at all, heavy and would be very difficult due to the not so good road condition. View from some where around Pos 2. We Spent around 4 hrs from Pos 3 to Sembalun Village. After that, we b...

Mount Rinjani - Day 2 Summit Rinjani (3726m)

Image
Time to conquer the peak! We wake up 1am plus in the early morning. The weather was so cold that we wrapped up like a dumpling LOL. Milk and cereal was served as a light breakfast before we started the hike. Around 2am, we departed for the summit! The sky is still dark of course so a head lamp is a must. It was a tough hike for us due to the low temperature and also the route condition. At the beginning of the trek, the route is still condition normal. Towards the end, the route is getting more and more steep. The "sandy" route condition made us frustrated since it is really difficult to walk on and the progress is slow. Felt like we moved up 3 steps and slide down 1 step... The closer we were to the summit, the more rest stop we had. Thin air, low temperature and the sandy route made our steps heavier and heavier. I never think that hiking stick is so important. But for this case, hiking stick is really useful! So pl...
