Bangkok - Taxi Tips, Airbnb Apartment & MCD
Sawadekap~
We touched
down safely at DMK airport, Bangkok after around 2hours of flight. After
collect our luggage, we started looking for taxi to go to our rented apartment.
DMK airport, Bangkok Thailand.
There are
few taxi counters at the airport, try to compare the price and bargain for the
best price. The rate depends on the location and don’t forget to ask about
gasoline and toll charges! The best price we got is 1000baht for a Toyota mini
van which can fit 7 adults 1 baby and all our luggages. Our driver asked us to
pay for the toll, which is about 170baht (in total) few minutes after departing from the
airport. Then only we realized toll is not included and toll in Bangkok is far
more expensive than Malaysia!
Anyway, we are willing to pay for the toll since
the traffic condition is really different with toll and without toll. Bangkok’s
traffic is worse than KL, I would say!
Tips:
- Compare the price and try to bargain!
- Remember to ask whether the offered price is inclusive of toll and gasoline.
- If travel in group, taxi would be cheaper and faster. If not, airport rail link would be better.
The apartment is spacious and clean! Most importantly, the price is so reasonable. Cooking facilities and washing machine made our Bangkok trip much more easy, especially when travelling with kid! This is our second time booking accommodation through Airbnb and we are very satisfied with it. So for those who never try it, it is time for you to explore Airbnb!
Bangkapi Mansion.
The spacious living hall. Baby boss spotted :P
Another good
thing about this apartment is the Tuk Tuk service! There is free Tuk Tuk
service from the apartment to the main street! Although it is just few minutes
walk, it was fun to sit on the Tuk Tuk LOL.
Tuk Tuk service from Bangkapi Mansion Luxury Apartment.
We took the
free Tuk Tuk to get to the main street where Terminal 21 Shopping Mall is just
located opposite and settled our lunch at McDonald! When in oversea, remember
to try their McD LOL. The good thing about McD in Thailand is they served pork
burger!

Pork burger!
With a cup of hot latte~
For pie,
the choice is pretty much like curry crab, yam, banana and red bean!
Spent more than 200Baht and you get a FREE Hello Kitty soft toy. There are only 4 designs and we got them ALL! (Not sure when this promo would end)
A taxi
driver approached us when we are about to leave Terminal 21 and after bargaining,
we hopped onto the taxi!
Car type:
Toyota Innova
Charges:
1500Baht for the whole day (for our case, around 10am until around 9.30pm),
inclusive of toll and gasoline.
Simple gasoline station at Bangkok.
Tips:
- Some taxi driver would charge OT rate (per hour) after 7pm or 8pm. Remember to ask about this!
- Sometimes the taxi driver would ask for some money for them to have lunch or dinner. For our case, the taxi driver asked for 220Baht on the day we travelled to Dam Seouk Floating Village and Asiatique. We think maybe because of the distance from town, that’s why they asked for extra “meal allowance”. Anyway, since it is not much and the driver is good to us, we are happy to provide him “meal allowance”.
- Sometimes you would have to pay the parking fee, depends on where your driver parked his car while waiting for you.
- Some taxi driver might stop you at some souvenir shop and asked if you would like to spend some time over there. For our case, our taxi driver stopped us at a jewellery factory & retail shop before sending us to Chatuchak Weekend Market. So we get down from the car, get a free welcomed drink, walked around the factory and get back to the taxi! All done in around 15minutes!
The jewellery factory that our taxi driver brought us to.
After that, we reached Chatuchak Weekend Market and started our Bangkok trip officially :P Stay tune for our Chatuchak's story!
