Chatuchak Weekend Market or Jatujak Market is one of the world’s largest weekend markets which contains more than 15,000 booths selling goods from every part of Thailand.
It is a
very popular shopping market for Thais and gained its popularity among
foreigners where there are over 200,000 visitors each day (Saturday and Sunday)
and 30% of them are foreigners.
Info from
HERE.
Things you
can find there ranged from plants, antiques, pets, clothes, books, ceramics,
home décor, handicrafts to fresh or dry food as well as drinks.
The antique-looking metal table fan!
We reached
there around 11am by taxi. You may get to Chatuchak Market by:
- Take taxi.
- Take BTS and exit at Mo Chi Station.
- Take MRT and exit at Kamphaeng Phet or Chatuchak Park.
Be there
earlier is better since the weather is really hot in the noon! We cannot bare
the heat and ended up hide into a foot massage shop to pamper our legs as well
as to enjoy the air cond LOL!
The market
is so big! It is divided into 27 sections! Just go to the section you
interested in order to save time and save your energy :) Or else, just loitered
around and explore the market!
There is signboard at each section, it is useful especially when you get lost :P
Chatuchak
Market is so happening! We listed down top 5 things you should not miss at
Chatuchak Weekend Market, as below.
Top 1:
Shopping!
You can
always bargain and get your favourite items in best price here! Besides, you
can find some local brands here where they sell their own design with
reasonable price!
Top 2:
Coconut ice cream
You must
not miss this authentic coconut ice cream from Chatuchak Market! There is
always crowd in front of the ice cream stall! By the way, they have few stalls
in the market, you sure will pass by one.
You can choose your own topping!
Coconut ice cream for 35Baht while coconut drink for 40Baht.
Coconut ice cream with peanuts and Nata de coco.
With red bean!
Top 3:
Local fruits or drinks
There are
plenty of fruit stalls over here and you can find fresh local fruits with
reasonable price!
Typical fruits!
Lychee!
Fresh
orange juice! It is easy to bump into a stall selling fruit juice on Bangkok
street and the most famous juice would be fresh orange juice! They
pressed the orange into juice, packed and sell on the spot!
Not interested with juice? Thai ice tea is not a bad choice too!
Top 4: Grilled food!
Bangkok's weather is hot but this cannot stop people from having grilled food under the hot sun!
Skewers!
Not sure what is this...Some nuts and spices wrapped in leaves.
Traditional Thai dessert with variety of toppings!
That's all for Chatuchak Weekend Market! Here is a place worth to pay a visit to, so don't forget to come over on either Saturday or Sunday!
We would share our experience in Chocolate Ville in next post, stay tune~
