Volunteering for Asics City Relay KL 2016
This is my third event volunteering after Nike
WeRunKL (Year 2010) and SCKLM (Year 2013). This round, my assigned role is pre-event
set up crew and I am one of three members alloted in the earliest shift of 1pm.
Our task in the afternoon is simple, to help setting up the course flags and
barrier jackets along the starting / finishing lane.
Stay healthy. Keep running :)
We managed to complete the work at 6pm. In general
we got four types of flags and jackets presented on the route, the Asics City
Relay event brand, Spectrum Worldwide event organizer brand, Blue and Black
Asics sponsors flags. Everything was
nicely dressed up and it was an accomplishment for the day as we endured
working under the scorching hot weather for hours.
Also, we got a short break in between the work.
There were two food options offered at the volunteer tent, Hainanese Chicken
Rice and vegetarian rice.
Lunch meal pack.
We met up with the evening shift volunteers when
we were almost done with our task. It was exciting to see many passionate
people helping out on the event .

We were the first group to stand down at 930pm.
Prior to that, we were assisting our volunteer wellfare leader, Shu Wen to
distribute mineral drinks to all the event crew, contractors, security
guards and polices. It seems that everything turned out smoothly with the support
and help from all parties. It was a memorable experience for me for being part
of this amazing night, and nice meeting up with two new friends from aircraft
engineering school, Syazwan and Nik.
Amazing runners at Dataran Merdeka.
