Volunteering for Asics City Relay KL 2016

Image
This is my third event volunteering after Nike WeRunKL (Year 2010) and SCKLM (Year 2013). This round, my assigned role is pre-event set up crew and I am one of three members alloted in the earliest shift of 1pm. Our task in the afternoon is simple, to help setting up the course flags and barrier jackets along the starting / finishing lane. Stay healthy. Keep running :) We managed to complete the work at 6pm. In general we got four types of flags and jackets presented on the route, the Asics City Relay event brand, Spectrum Worldwide event organizer brand, Blue and Black Asics sponsors flags. Everything was nicely dressed up and it was an accomplishment for the day as we endured working under the scorching hot weather for hours. Rows of sponsor flags. Rows of jackets along the starting point. Crew setting up the timing mat. Also, we got a short break in between the work. There were two food options offered at the volunteer tent, Hainanese Chicken Rice an...

Kuching – Must EAT!

Image
One of the main reason we chose to go Kuching as our weekend getaway destination is because of its FOOD! All Kuching local delicacy, we are coming~~~ No.1 Kolo mee Haha, as per mentioned in previous post, we really have Kolo mee on 3 consecutive days LOL :P Our first Kolo Mee was from Annie Kolo Mee, from a kopitiam near Bomba, behind the big cat statue. Our very first Kolo mee at Kuching, served together with some Char Siew sauce and we add on one bowl of wantan :P  Total RM7.50. Out of expectation, the wantan was quite good! Prawn meat mixed with pork made the wantan juicy yet chewy! Our second Kolo Mee was taken when we stopped by to have lunch at Pekan Bau, when we are on the way to Wind Cave as well as Fairy Cave.  2 Kolo Mee plus Kueh Chap, which is cooked with pork, pork offal and herbs. Total RM16. First try on Kueh Chap :) Our third Kolo Mee was our last lunch before we depart to airport, taken at Noodles Descendents. ...

Kolo mee is a MUST! We have Kolo mee every single day throughout our stay there! Having Kolo mee in 3 consecutive days :P Top 2: Try the 3 layers tea! The brown sugar at the bottom is like a bomb, felt like every drink can taste better with that sugar LOL :P Tea, milk and brown sugar :) Top 3: Try the famous layer cake! Layer cake, or kek lapis is like a must eat snack when you are at Kuching. Not buying?! Is OK, you still can try for free XD The cake is so colourful and sweet, kids gotta like them so much. Locals are so creative in doing this, the layer cake is so colourful until it looked more to an art piece than a cake :) By the way, we bought Oreo and Chipsmore flavour, which are less-colourful version LOL ...

Second visit to Bukit Kutu (March 2016)

Image
I had my second visit to Bukit Kutu on 5 March 2016. It was also the day for KubUltra trail run in the morning. We reached the hiking spot at 830am and there were many cars parked along the road. Guess Saturday is always a good day to start something exciting. We had the very first trip to Kutu back in June last year, please click here for the post. This time, I had one 1.5l water, two 500ml 100plus drinks, packed lunch, two breads and few Snickers in my backpack. At the end of hike, we consumed all the fluids, with only the breads and Snickers left. We started the hike at 9am and reach the Batu Tedung Checkpoint at 1030am. After 10-mins break and taking photos around with the incredibly huge boulders, we proceed to the chimney area where the Kutu summit is just close by. Ascending... Batu Tedung Checkpoint. Finally, we reached the summit at 12pm. We took few climbs further to the viewing point using the ladders. According to site information , the panoramic vi...
