The Most Interesting Running Events in Year 2015

Year 2015, it is an exciting year for runners in Malaysia with the introduction of some new running events and obstacles based races. Going into the third and final quarter of year, the real competition’s just begun. Be prepared for physical and mental endurance challenge test.

Here, I am presenting you the four interesting runs happening in Malaysia in 2015 and one in Thailand.

1. Men’s Health Women’s Health Night Run 2015 (ENDED)

Description: The first night race event put up by Men’s Health Women’s Health Malaysia. Running in Putrajaya has never fail to amaze the participants, including me. Offered with cool running tee, finisher medal and post-rain running experience, this is surely another event worth looking forward in 2016.

2. Taiping Cross Country Run 2015 (ENDED)

Description: The theme for this first annual event is “Save the Rainforest”. A race aimed to create awareness of global warming issues amongst the public and runners. 60% of road and 40% of trails/grass will be covered. Starting from Maxwell hills, exploring Taiping main attractions and historical sites to unearth the beauty of this town at Northern Malaysia.

3. River Kwai International Half Marathon 2015 - THAILAND (OPEN)

Description: The 35th edition of the Half Marathon event is held at Kanchanaburi, Thailand. It is located in the west of Thailand, approximately 3 hours driving journey from Bangkok. The River Kwai International Half Marathon is known as the oldest road race in Thailand, besides providing one of the most scenic route in the country. Two race category available: 21.1km & 10.5km.

4. Standard Chartered KL Marathon 2015 (CLOSED)

Desription: SCKLM is returning in Kuala Lumpur town for the seventh consecutive year. All 35000 slots were sold out 4 days after the registration opened. With Adidas being the new apparel partner and great organizers along, it is gonna be an exciting event for all local and overseas runners.

5. Viper Challenge - Genting King of the Mountain 2015 (OPEN)

Description: Another not to be missed obstacle race in Malaysia. 10km route and 15 obstacles in an all-new venue, this time the participant are going to taste the real obstacle challenge in a high altitude arena. 2015 is definitely an exciting year for obstacles type races in Malaysia.
