Bangkok - Damneon Sa Douk Floating Village
Click HERE for our full itinerary.
A trip to Thailand would not be completed if you didn’t pay a visit to floating market. Well, we are not interested with goods (majority are souvenirs) sold over there, but it was a great experience to see how locals earn their living on “water”.

We spent around 1 and a
half hours travelled from Bangkok city center to Damneon Sa Douk Floating Village, by
taxi.
Once we reached there, we
had to pay for the boat to enter to the village. One boat can allocate 5
passengers and 1 boat driver.
Charges:
i)
2000Baht per boat for 1
hour
ii)
3000Baht per boat for 2
hours
We took the 1hour tour and here we go!
The boat!
First, the boat goes around canal with mango trees along the riverbank and some local houses.
The locals' houses.
The boat is with shed, so not need to worry about the big sun or rain LOL.
The welcome board :)
Stalls along the canal.
Mainly are souvenirs... or some handmade stuffs by the locals.
Art gallery on the water :)
There are stalls built
above the water selling different types of good, mainly are souvenirs and food.
The boat driver would direct the boat closer to the stalls so that it is easier
for us to shop or bargain.
After that, we entered
the “main market” where there are a lot of boats here selling local food! From coconut ice cream to durian to even hot food like moo ping (grilled pork)!
Everything is on the boat! Cutting, frying, selling...
Local fruits!
All-time-favourite! Coconut ice cream with sticky rice!
The journey back :)
Bye bye~
I would say it was a great experience to visit to a floating market in Bangkok. You got to see how locals live with the water, earn their living there, raise up their kids there... It is totally different with our life in KL.
How to go: By taxi! I would say it would be the easiest and fastest way!
