Siem Reap - Sunrise at Angkor Wat :)
So here come the third day of our 3-day pass and we chose to spend the day at Angkor Wat :) Normally Angkor Wat is the first temple to visit but we made it the last temple to visit LOL :P
Reason behind is we chose to cycling on the first day... and since we are not sure with the road condition and direction as well, we decided to depart when the sky turned bright. That's why we skipped Angkor Wat on first day, as we would like to catch the priceless sunrise :)
We are clear with the road condition now, so now is the time for us to wake up super early in the morning and cycled to Angkor Wat in dark :P
Although the sky still dark, but roads are busy with cars and tuk-tuk sending people to Angkor Wat!
The crowd when we reached.... luckily we managed to find a good spot to sit down and wait for the sunrise.
The sunrise :)
One of the must see sunrise in the world :)
Totally worth it, to wake up so early in the morning and cycle against the chill breeze!
Hello Angkor Wat :)
It was a beautiful morning :) Started with chill breeze and after that warm sunshine :)
Saw a hot air ballon! By the way, it would be fun if can explore Angkor Wat from the sky right!?
After sunrise, we walked into Angkor Wat, the biggest religious building in the world!
We started our journey into the temple from the right side, walked into a long pathway, with cravings on the walls.
We are so amazed with the cravings on the walls!!!
In fact, we had fun exploring stories behind the cravings on walls. we would recommend you to bring along a tourist book or any book related to Angkor Wat, so that you can get to know stories behind the temple as well as the cravings!
Not interested with book?! There are lots of tour guide ready to serve you here! For any languages! From English, Mandarin, Japanese, Korean to Spanish, French, Italian and etc.... Official tour guides are with their brownish uniforms and name tag, it is better not to hire an illegal tour guide (yes, there are illegal tour guides here!).
There are 5 towers in the middle of Angkor Wat, where 4 towers located at each corner and the other one located in the middle. In normal day, one tower would be opened for public,
We are not allowed to hike up to the tower since the place was closed for praying ceremony. A guide told us that the tower would be closed on first day of a month in Lunar calendar (full-moon day) for praying ceremony.
One of the famous spot for photography :)
Angkor Wat, from different angle :)
We were there one day before the 2nd Angkor Empire Marathon 2015! Spotted a lot of worker busy setting up the event area! So happening! The starting and finishing line was there already!
It must be very fun and memorable to jog in Angkor Wat with runners from around the world!
We waved good by to Angkor Wat after spending half day here :) Yes, we didn't "fully utilise" our 3-day pass by visiting all temples or by visiting from day until night.... we chose to make it more leisure and less tiring by visiting temples we interested with :) And we had fun :)
