Viper Challenge 2014!!!

1st Nov 2014, Saturday. It was the day for Viper Challenge 2014. This year, my friends and I made a comeback with three new faces in team, and of course, we got an earlier starting time at Sepang International Circuit. In the morning, we reached at 430am, two hours before the event starts. The car park is almost full. Registration is quick and it was about 20 minutes clearing the entrance. We had some free hours taking photographs, chatting and changing.

Starting line!

The first wave was released at 6am. The deejay was doing his amazing job again, to blow everyone up in mood. “When I say Viper you say Challenge”, “When I say Give up you say Never”, followed by the official kickoff. Each wave has a buffer time of 20 minutes. We, in the third wave, started the 2014 Asia Biggest Challenge of 20-km obstacle race at 640am.

The list below pulls out the top five most interesting yet challenging obstacles found in the course.
Some of them were new for this year.

1. Knees up. Rows of tyre laying in the middle of the road, of course promised a greater challenge than last year. Everyone was too excited to try on it. Participants required extra cautious when skipping through the tyre hole as there is always potential to slip and trip.

Knees up!

2. Spider man shuffle. This was the challenge which I had used up much energy. We had to step up on a wood attached on board and then shuffling to the other end by both hands. The woods are slippery with muds and many participants ended up in the muddy water, laughing at each other. This new challenge guarantees fun and self-excitement.

After. The moment you loose your hands...

3. Stuck in the mud. This is the game where teamwork spirit kicks in, well at least for my team. The hole was deep and we have to rely on each other’s support to get up. There were about 10 holes in total. For me, it is just too much. Everyone was exhausted after the task and there was still a long 17km to cover....

Stuck in the mud! Kept crawling!

4. Define Gravity. Another greater challenge are right in front after we finished the Incline Wall. This time, only three of the members went through. This challenge required two persons on the bottom to hold the person to the top by stepping on three points of body (thigh, shoulder, hand). There will be another member on the opposite side to drag the person up. This is tougher than we thought as the platform was placed so high on an elevated area.

Define gravity! This was so tough!

5. Ring Swings. This is the task which I found the most interesting. It is just few simple rings hanging and you have to swing through them. The muddy lake served at bottom was a push for everybody. Glad that I have embraced the challenge even though I fell off after the third ring.
