2016 - The Most Interesting Running Events Happening in KL Selangor and Genting

The number of races in Malaysia continue showing an upward trend in 2016. This year, we observe more theme-based running events are introduced and most received good responses in the areas of Penang, KL, Selangor and Johor. On the contrary, the tight running schedule for some of the major races in Malaysia definitely would leave the runners ponder before taking on.

In this post, we are presenting our top most-anticipated running events, with categories ranging from ultramarathon, 42km, city relay and obstacle based race. 

1. Route 68 Challenge (ENDED)

Description: The second edition of Route 68 Challenge promised a remarkable challenge for the ultra-runners with its 50 km and 70 km race routes. The road runners will be running along the Federal Route 68 (Jalan Gombak - Bentong), greeted by the most enthusiastic volunteers and photographers. For runners ended the race within the cut-off time, cool medal and finisher tee presented by 2ndSkin await at the finishing line.

Date: 10th April 2016 (Sunday)

Venue: Dewan Serbaguna Komuniti Orang Asli, Gombak

 2. Asics City Relay KL 2016

Desription: The newest relay night marathon challenge rocks in Kuala Lumpur. Two distance categories of full and half marathons will be covered by a four person team. Each full / half marathon team runner will have to complete a total of 10.5 km or 5.25 km respectively. Each participant will receive an awesome Asics running shirt, with the exclusive night pack available for purchase to light up your race on Saturday night.

3. Standard Chartered KL Marathon 2016 

Description: Year 2016 is going to be an exciting year for SCKLM. This year, The organizers have brought forward the event date by two months to encourage more participation. We are featuring it again in this post as the SCKLM 2015 was cancelled due to the unappealing haze caused by months-long agricultural fires in our neigbouring country. Furthermore, the organizers have given the SCKLM 2015 participants registration priority and also 25% discounted price on the race category registered.

Date: 7th August 2016 (Sunday)

Venue: Dataran Merdeka, Kuala Lumpur

4. Viper Challenge - Genting King of the Mountain 2016

Description: In 2015, I have missed the Genting KOM because it clashed in the same week with the  34th River Kwai Int Half Marathon. Up to date (1st May 2016), both Launch Sale and Early Bird Special tickets had sold out, with the remaining of Post Early Bird and Elite categories. There are more hotel + tickets packages available as well. The same as previous, you can choose to enter either as an individual or challenge in a team. This will be another fun guaranteed event along with your workout / running buddies.
