Beijing, China - Where to Stay

There are various types of accommodation available in Beijing, depending on your preferences of location, budget and experience of stay. The list below provides you some different staying options  that you could find in the country, especially for Beijing city.

i) Youth Hostel (YHA)
Currently there are nine YHA branches around Beijing city. Some of the youth hostels provide dorm-type accommodation, besides the standard room. A basic room with minimal design and facilities, these hostels come as a decent option for backpackers and those on a shoestring budget that wished to stay in the city center.

iii) Homestay
During our 7 days 6 nights in Beijing, we managed to secure our accommodation through www.Airbnb.com. The place is located near to GuLouDaJie Street (旧鼓楼大街), with only five minutes walking to nearest MRT station. We had a great time staying in the middle of Hutong’s neighborhood (胡同).

Our Airbnb house!

We are actually staying in the middle of Hutong’s neighborhood (胡同).

We walked pass here every morning in order to get to bus station or MRT station, which are located next to this corner.

During our stay there, we always bumped into tourists getting down from a bus, hopped onto trishaw and have a ride around the Hutong’s neighborhood (胡同).
But we are staying there, instead of touring there! How cool it is!

 Live with locals.

Where you get to see how their daily life is...

Walked with them in the morning, kicked start the day with them :)

Sound impossible, but the little space consists of living area, bathroom, kitchen and two bedrooms. As we are travelling in a group of four, I thought it would come as a cheaper and easy option. It turned out everyone was happy with the arrangement.

The living area, with sofa, TV, Wifi and etc. The only week point is the room is too dim, the only light in the living room is warm light from the fan.

 Kitchen.

Staircases that lead us to upstairs, where 2 rooms are located.

iv) Big Hotels (4 stars and above)
There are many big hotel names at the bustling Beijing city. Some of them do offer great room deals with online reservation. This is particular for those who planned their room booking one or two months ahead of travelling.
