Gunung Datuk Feb 2014

It’s another weekend in 2014 well spent. This time we have conquered the Gunung Datuk, which stands tall at 2900ft in the state of Negeri Sembilan. The journey started at 615 am from KL Sentral and arrived at the hiking spot at Rembau around 740am. Many families, regular hikers and school teens were spotted at the breezy Saturday morning. Prior to hiking, we paid the parking fee of rm2 per car and park entrance fee of rm5 per person.

In the early trail, we found ourselves going up on a long steepish hill. This is the hardest of all as one has to overcome the body by taking control of their own breath and pace besides watching on the rolling land which seems to be endless. We took several rests by taking in breads and the Snickers bars. After 40 minutes of hilly land, the slope has decreased gradually. This increased our pace and we took less interval rests after.

This is the trail we had went through. Believe me, it is still rolling.

 Ants lined.

Next, we were greeted with many big boulders on site. It was so huge that any human would look like a tiny one under its body. Amazingly we took few group photos with those boulders.  At the end of the trail, we climbed up four ladders before reaching the Datuk Peak. The high wind in the morning has made the way up to the peak unsafe. Everyone has to hold tight to the ladder support and keep their body low while carefully watching the steps.

The 360° view of Datuk peak is right in front of us after 1 hour and 30 minutes hike. The raging winds and burning sun had failed to stopping us from enjoying the breathtaking land below our feet.

Ever wonder how those big boulders is up at mountain

After grabbing some snacks and photographs, we made our way back at 1030am. Surprisingly we noticed there were numbers of people were going up during the time. We have figured out that we have made the right decision to always reach the destination as early.

Time clocked: 4 hour 14 minutes

We were able to reach at the bottom at 1230pm. After changing the clothes, we had our lunch at Pasar Besar Seremban, which is located around 30 minutes away from Rembau, before calling it a day. Well, Gunung Datuk is surely another good place for a short outdoor escape from the city. However please be sure to get there as early before it is packed.
