Taiwan - ShiLin Night Market (士林夜市)

Landed safely at TaoYuan International Airport (桃园国际机场) around 2pm+ with very good weather.

After all the necessary document checking, the first thing we did is to apply a local sim card!!

We chose ChungHwa Telecom which is claimed to have the best coverage over the whole island! There is a counter at the airport and few different types of package for foreign tourists to choose for. Click here for further details.

Besides this, we also apply an i-Taiwan account at the airport’s information counter, what you need to do is just show them your passport. With this account, you can connect to majority of the free Wifi. Hehe, super kiasu that we didn’t waste any chance to get freebie.

The third thing we did at the airport is visit to their 7-eleven!

7-eleven is everywhere around Taiwan! You sure can find one around you.

The main purpose is to get ourselves an easy card (悠悠卡). This card is just like our Touch-n-go card, it can be used in public transport and even some small shopping in 7-eleven.

Very useful card indeed!

Get ourselves a Hokkaido ice cream from 7-eleven too!

Missions completed! We hopped onto a bus and travelled to TaiPei city.

Our hotel is closed to this MRT station, quite convenient actually.

After that, we had our dinner at ShiLin night market (士林夜市). ShiLin night market offers a variety of snacks or food with unique Taiwan flavor and there are also many different kinds of games here. Eating, shopping, playing, all can be found here!

This should be the most famous food at ShiLin night market! HaoTa Big Chicken Fillet (豪大大鸡排). Looked at the crowd queuing for it!

The generous portion! The chicken fillet is even bigger than my face!

Fruits stall. Wonder why their fruits all are so big in size.

This is quite a popular drink at Taiwan. A creamy white colour bitter gourd which is blended into juice and served with honey as a drink.

The weather becomes cooler at night, so we hid into a Tau fu fa shop.

Tau fu fa with some sweet potatoes and yam taro balls, hot ginger soup as base. Perfect to fight with cold!

ShiLin night market is a nice place to shop too. Everything is so affordable here!

Creative and funny T-shirt lol.

Postcards in shape of Taiwan island made of woods!

There are a lot game sections too. We tried on this :P Just throw the ball to the target, the more you hit the bigger prize you get.

We got this cute little stuff home lol.

Some Mahjung game.

This is so old school! Just like the pinball game we played in PC.

End this post with a small little cute puppy :)

Or you prefer a huge one?!
How to go:
By MRT, take a train on DanShui line (淡水线) and exit at JianTan station (剑潭站).
