Sabah - J Residence & Kundasang War Memorial

After jumping here and there snapping photos with the cows, it is time to have dinner and some rest. Thus, from Desa Cattle Farm, we headed back to Kundasang town and further down to Kinabalu Park.

Why Kinabalu Park again? This is because our home of the day is within walking distance from Kinabalu park!

Here we are, J Residence!

Found this guest house from internet and totally in love with it!

J Residence was built in the year 2010 and our lodge are partially hidden by trees and plants from the main road. Our lodge overlook the Bundu Tuhan dwelling & farming community while the back is decorated with rows of tall matured pine trees.
Temperature here ranges from 19°C to 17°C at night. Truly a great place to seek refuge from the hot equatorial climate of the other major cities of Sabah.

J Residence is overlooking valleys and mountains! There are only 10rooms here which provide a great place to rest and relax.

Out of 10rooms, there are only 2 rooms which are attached to a viewing deck overlooking panoramic view of valleys and mountains!

One of our rooms is attached with the viewing deck!

The viewing deck and the rooms!

Since we are in a group of 6, we rented 2 rooms that night. One is the room attached to the viewing deck while the other one is built beside it, at upper location. There is also one villa here to accommodate bigger group of residence.

One of our room at upper side.

General dining patio.

 With BBQ facility!

Some rooms beside the dining patio which is surrounded by greenery.

Interior of the room. Quite spacious and equipped with TV & DVD player, kettle and water heater in the bathroom.

For dinner, we had homemade steamboat! We brought along some food and utensils. Basic cooking facilities are available here, you can even find detergent for dish washing here!

The next morning, we wake up to this!

How good it is to wake up to this every morning!

We had our breakfast here overlooking the panoramic view!

After some light breakfast, we headed back to Kundasang town again and dropped by Kundasang War Memorial.

Kundasang War Memorial was established in year 1962. This is one of the first memorials to commemorate the brave Australian and British Prisoners of War who died in Sandakan and during the infamous death marches to Ranau during World War II. The memorial also remembers people of North Borneo who risked their lives to help the POWs.

The main entrance.

Kundasang War Memorial consists of 4 gardens, which are English garden, Australian garden, Borneo garden and the Contemplation Garden and Pool representing the different nationalities.

Kundasang War Memorial is a place worth to pay for a visit. It is a good place for history lesson and for us, as a human to think about what war had brought to us.
