Siem Reap - Cycling Around Angkor Wat (Part 2)

Refer to Part 1 of our cycling tour around Angkor Wat HERE.

After lunch, we are fully charged again and continued our cycling tour again :)

Next, we are passing through Victory Gate. Victory Gate looked similar to South Gate, but here is very much less crowded compared to South Gate. Thus, a good place for photo shooting :)

Cycling towards Victory Gate.

Our bikes in front of Victory Gate :)

After awhile passing through Victory Gate, we reached Ta Keo :)
Ta Keo, this temple gained its popularity because of its bare stone. Structure of this temple was completed but not cravings. Unlike other temples, cravings on Ta Keo was not was not being conducted or not completed.

We reached Ta Keo in the afternoon, hottest period!

The stones.

Ta Keo, a temple-mountain.

After leaving Ta Keo, we continued our way to Ta Prohm. There is rock block along the road indicating distance to the next temple. This is a good way for us to know that we are on the correct direction and at the same time let us know how close we are to our destination :)

One more kilometre to Ta Prohm :)

We are here! Ta Prohm :) The main elements here are Trees, besides the temple :)
This tree gained "Tomb Raider Tree" as its name after it appeared in the Hollywood movie, Tomb Raider.

Just wana let you all know how giant it is!

Some restoration work conducted at Ta Prohm.

This walkway appeared in front of us again after restoration project! :)

Metal bars are used to support the growing trees.

Ta Prohm, a temple in jungle. The temple lived with tress that kept growing over the years, being ruined by the trees but yet cannot separate with the trees.

Amazing tree lived together with the temple.

After some great time spent at Ta Prohm, we hopped onto our bikes again and departed back to our hotel. However, it was raining cats and dogs halfway where we were forced to stop by Srah Srang while waiting for the rain to stop.

Lesson learnt, rain coat is important LOL :P

In our opinion, cycling and touring around Angkor Wat is really manageable, if you don't want to make it too tiring, maybe you can choose to visit some temples that you interested instead of covering all temples in small and grand circuit in 2 days.

For us, we had a great time cycling around Angkor Wat :) The route is flat so made it easier and less tiring for less-fit people like me :P Locals are all very kind to help, so don't need to worry if get lost, haha! By the way, routes in Angkor Archaeological Park is quite simple, so you can survive with a simple map on hand :)

Tips for cycling around Angkor Wat:
i) Sunblock is a MUST.
ii) Drink lots of water to keep your body hydrating.
iii) Bring along some snack like energy bar.
iv) Bring along rain coat especially during raining season.
