Second visit to Bukit Kutu (March 2016)

I had my second visit to Bukit Kutu on 5 March 2016. It was also the day for KubUltra trail run in the morning. We reached the hiking spot at 830am and there were many cars parked along the road. Guess Saturday is always a good day to start something exciting.
We had the very first trip to Kutu back in June last year, please click here for the post.

This time, I had one 1.5l water, two 500ml 100plus drinks, packed lunch, two breads and few Snickers in my backpack. At the end of hike, we consumed all the fluids, with only the breads and Snickers left. We started the hike at 9am and reach the Batu Tedung Checkpoint at 1030am. After 10-mins break and taking photos around with the incredibly huge boulders, we proceed to the chimney area where the Kutu summit is just close by.

Finally, we reached the summit at 12pm. We took few climbs further to the viewing point using the ladders. According to site information, the panoramic view laying in front of eyes is the gorgeous Mountain range of Titiwangsa and Kuala Kubu Bharu (KKB) dam. It was breathtaking and absolutely rewarding.

After lunch, we left the spot and started the descent. We returned to the carpark at around 3pm. The hike itself took approximately 6 hours. Everyone of us have truly enjoyed the time spending for outdoor activities.

There are few tips we would like to share with you for this leisure day-hike:
  1. The ascending route to Kutu summit appeared to be confusing in the first hour of hike as there are few junctions leading you to different places eventually. If you are not confident of them, I would suggest to do the hike during weekend as you can easily join other hikers at the starting point. Alternatively, you may visit to hiking websites to get a clear picture of the route before the hike. I find this site useful in providing information for the Bkt Kutu.
  2. It is advisable to bring at least 2l of water for one person. Light snacks and packed lunch would be a great addition to keep you energized throughout the hike.
  3. For those who are confident of the Kutu route, it can be crowded to do hiking during weekend. Aim to reach early and get a decent car park. You can depart from Kuala Lumpur as early as 5am as the journey to KKB would take 1 hour and 30 minutes.
  4. Be extra cautious while attempting to climb the ladders. The room space at the viewing point is very limited which could only fit a maximum of four people. Always wait for the people coming down from above first before taking on.
Happy Hiking :)
