Kuching – Must EAT!

One of the main reason we chose to go Kuching as our weekend getaway destination is because of its FOOD! All Kuching local delicacy, we are coming~~~

No.1 Kolo mee

Haha, as per mentioned in previous post, we really have Kolo mee on 3 consecutive days LOL :P
Our first Kolo Mee was from Annie Kolo Mee, from a kopitiam near Bomba, behind the big cat statue.

Our very first Kolo mee at Kuching, served together with some Char Siew sauce and we add on one bowl of wantan :P  Total RM7.50.

Out of expectation, the wantan was quite good! Prawn meat mixed with pork made the wantan juicy yet chewy!

Our second Kolo Mee was taken when we stopped by to have lunch at Pekan Bau, when we are on the way to Wind Cave as well as Fairy Cave.

2 Kolo Mee plus Kueh Chap, which is cooked with pork, pork offal and herbs. Total RM16.

First try on Kueh Chap :)

Our third Kolo Mee was our last lunch before we depart to airport, taken at Noodles Descendents.

This version of Kolo Mee is slightly different, lots of fried onion is added and the meat is served separately in soup.

Conclusion: All Kolo Mee are GOOOOOOD!!!!

Kim Joo, based on information we got from the internet, they served the best Kolo Mee at Kuching. Too bad it was closed the time we went there! It closes on every Monday T.T

No.2: Sarawak Laksa

Sarawak Laksa is like a bomb, looked simple with some prawns on top, but the soup plays an important role in making the whole dish extraordinary!

We have our Sarawak Laksa at Chong Choon Café, which served the best laksa at Kuching!

Sarawak Laksa! RM6.

Mee Jawa (RM4) there is not bad too! Can add-on satay, in early morning LOL :P

Chong Choon Café
Address: Lot 121, Jalan Abell, Section 3, 93100, Kuching, Sarawak, 93100, Malaysia.
Operating hours: 6.30am – 12.00pm Monday to Sunday.

No.3: Pork porridge at Min Hong Kee

Yes, you may think that what’s so special with this white porridge, right?! The porridge is served in very generous way where lots of mince pork inside! You can choose to add pork offal too if you like!

Too many orders that we have to wait for around half an hour to get this served on table. The polite boss is so nice that he informed us earlier that we might have to wait for awhile when we placed our order.

RM4.50 for normal porridge, add en egg with additional RM0.50.

Add an egg is not a bad choice too!

Min Hong Kee
Address: Lorong 14, Jalan Padungan, 93100, Kuching, Sarawak.

No.4: Fried Gong Pia at Min Hong Kee

Yes, Sibu is famous with Gong Pia, but if you are at Kuching, must try out those fried Gong Pia from Min Hong Kee! The ordinary Gong Pia was fried and stuffed with minced meat cooked in sweet salty sauce! Every bite makes us fly~~ miss it badly now!

Extra-ordinary fried Gong Pia with minced meat stuffed inside!!! RM 5 for 5 pieces of  Gong Pia!

No.5: Midin Belacan at TopSpot Food Court

Haha, of course you can find midin at other place but we have it when having seafood dinner at Top Spot Food Court Here is a very special place, it is an opened seafood hawker center, located at rooftop of UTC building.

Midin is a type of fern that is quite common at Sarawak, but not in West Malaysia. It looked like paku pakis but it is not :P Its texture is quite special, worth trying, you gotta love it!

Top Spot Food Court
Address: Jalan Bukit Mata Kuching, 93100 Kuching, Sarawak.

No.6: 3-layer tea

One funny fact we found out at Kuching is coffee served at those kopitiam is below average =.= We tried few but all cannot even meet our low requirement… but 3-layer tea is good at every place we tried out LOL!

Brown sugar!!
