Beijing - What & Where to Eat :)

Image
Hello Beijing!!! Hunt for local food is always one of the best part in a trip, so we are going to share about some good local food or snack that we tried throughout our trip in Beijing!  1. Qing Feng Steamed Stuffed Bun Shop (庆丰包子铺) Once we touched down at Beijing Capital International Airport, our first meal was at the airport. Early in the morning, we looked for some light and healthy breakfast after a long night flight. Steamed bun, red bean porridge, red date and marinated cloud ear fungus (black fungus). A healthy way to kick start our Beijing trip :) 2. KaoRouJi ( 烤肉季) We were recommended by a local when we loitered around ShiChaHai (什刹海). This is a very famous and historical restaurant, for more details of the restaurant, can refer to HERE . One of the signature dish there, Mongolian roasted rib (蒙古式烤羊排)! Strongly recommended! The rib was well-cooked, soft yet juicy, while the Mongolian style sauce gives a special taste for the rib, well combinat...

Hello Beijing! Towards the end of our trip, we didn’t travel far or outskirt of the city but we chose to walk around BeiJing city. So here we are, Olympic Sports Centre! Beijing hosted the Olympic back in year 2008 and here is the place where all records were created! Lovely autumn. It was a good evening, slightly hazy and breezy. Not too bad for a scroll :) It is easy to get to Olympic Sports Centre via MRT, both Line 8 and 15 stop at Olympic Green Station. The sports centre is very big in area and two main attractions there would be the National Stadium (Bird’s Nest)  国家体育场 (鸟巢) as well as the National Aquatic Centre (Water Cube)  国家游泳中心(水立方) ! Part of the Sports Centre's layout. The place is really huge!   Mascots of Beijing Olympic 2008! The iconic national stadium from far! Haha, it still looked better from far.... >.<  we were so closed that we got to see tangled wires.. When the sky turned dark ...

Beijing - Lama Temple / YongHe Temple (雍和宫)

After a memorable and physically-drained visit to The Great Wall of China, we planned for something more relaxing on the next day. Today we are going to Lama Temple, or being known as YongHe Temple ( 雍和宫). YongHe Temple, symbolized a palace of peace and harmony. This is a Tibetan Buddhism temple which is well-known with its Han Chinese and Tibetan styles artwork. Upon reaching the main entrance, few signboards can be seen mentioning some rules to be followed in the temple, to show your respect :) By the way, incense sticks would be provided for free in the temple, visitors are not allowed to bring in their own incense sticks. There are a lot of stalls or shops selling stuff for praying around the main entrance, just ignore them LOL. This is quite funny, a signboard built to advise visitor not to being cheated by fortune teller LOL. At the main entrance. Incense sticks provided by the temple. YongHe Temple gained a Guinness Book of Records in ye...

Beijing - BaDaLing Great Wall of China (八达嶺长城)

There is a Chinese phrase saying that you are not a hero unless you climbed The Great Wall of China ( 不登长城非好汉 ). Haha, so besides being listed as the top in Beijing’s to-do-list, a visit to The Great Wall of China is a must in order for you to be a hero LOL :P There are few ways or entrances to get to the Great Wall of China, one of the most famous and most visited is BaDaLing Great Wall of China ( 八达嶺长城 ). BaDaLing Great Wall is close to Beijing city and connected with urban area by expressway. From Beijing city, it takes around one hour to get to BaDaLing Great Wall by bus. There is train service as well but we chose to take bus since it is easier to get the ticket and cheaper. For train service, only limited tickets are available daily and based on feedback we read from forum, the tickets normally sold out early in the morning! While for bus service, chances for you to get onto a bus is very much higher since the bus is available from 6am until 1230pm daily! We t...
