Bangkok Top 5 Foodie Spots (December 2013)

A trip to Bangkok would not be a complete one without having a taste on the local Thai food. Here are the top 5 most recommended foodie hotspots listed during my visit to Bangkok in December 2013.

1. T&K Seafood Restaurant

T&K Seafood Restaurant topped the best of list. Known for having the finest Thai seafood in Bangkok, the restaurant is located in the busy Yaowarat junction area at Chinatown. It can be easily identified with the employee standing outside the restaurant wearing in green. We have had the very first tomyam soup in Bangkok and it was the best ever since, the fried oyster egg, grilled prawns, crab meat fried rice, fish cake, stir fried morning glory and kalian were perfect additions on the table. Again nothing beats the hot and spicy tomyam.

Not to be missed T&K seafood (so the two guys featured on the menu cover looks alike the famous Chinese singer?)

    2. Saeb X2 Wanton Noodles

Morning breakfast can be a simple plain wanton noodles, or a heavy braised pork trotter coupled with rice. Both of them can be found in a restaurant named Saeb X2 Wanton Noodles at Pratunam area. Note that the portion of noodles is little for one serving. We decided to give a try on the braised pork trotters (you can choose lean pork or intestines). The braised food tastes like heaven and everyone soon had a hand on it. Wondering the taste when both food are taken together…

     3. Kaiton Pratunam Chicken Rice

Another not to be missed is the Kaiton Pratunam Chicken Rice. It takes a 5 minutes walking from Platinum Mall and the staff in the restaurant can be easily spotted in bright pink shirt. The identification through the shirt color sure works fine for us and many other tourists in Bangkok. From the menu, it is a restaurant of 50 years old and the quality of the oily rice and chicken are well maintained. Besides, the price is reasonable for a decent portion of chicken rice and it sure worth a try.

4. Coconut Ice cream at Chatuchak Market

Looking for a perfect dessert after hours spent in the Chatuchak? The number one spot goes to the Coconut Ice cream. We found the many stalls of coconut ice cream while walking out of the market. Believe that there is no turning back once you get the first taste. It melts in the tongue, and heart. There is various combinations of toppings you can add on e.g. peanut, sugar chips, red bean, corn, blue glutinous rice.
