Setia Alam Trail - tips and guides
The first Tuesday
of February 2015, it was the Public Holiday for Thaipusam. I had planned for my
first hike at Setia Alam, realising the traffic at KL and parts of area in
Selangor going to be terrible with people flocking to Batu Caves for
celebration. As early as 730am, we reached the hiking spot after meeting up
with Wewen from Klang.
We started at
trail point A. The gathering point is a huge piece of empty land with some
construction planning on the go. The aim for today is the Peak Garden and we
took approx. 1 hour to reach the destination. Although the peak stands at 240m
and certainly not as tall as the previous hills taken, it was good with high
winds and sceneries worth-the-adventure. Be surprised that you can view the KL
Twin Towers from here.
We parked our car next to this water tank.

Construction going on..
The peak garden! Here looked more like a farm!
In overall, the
trail was fairly easy and an enjoyable one. We were able to finish them within
two hours. The incomplete part of it when we noticed there were numbers of
illegal shelter sitting at the beginning of trail. The canvas-like tents
occupied by the foreign workers was not a pretty sight and their presence poses
significant danger to the hikers and the neighborhood. Few of the occupants
were walking out of the forest, topless and wrapped in ‘sarong’, when we made the
way into the entrance.
It was great to
know the locals are contributing relentlessly to the Setia Alam Trail, with
help of the social site, the introductory video and TNF hiking group. However, the
construction contractors and authorities have to work hand in hand to provide a
safe environment and a decent trekking experience to the all hikers.

Is the area safe?
ReplyDeleteHi, sorry for late reply.
DeleteYes, the area is safe but it would be better if go with companion since construction work is on-going over there and some workers stayed in temporary shelter around that area.
Hope you enjoy your hike.
Hi I lived in Setia Indah 11, does the trail also meant for mountain biking?
ReplyDeleteHi, riders on mountain bike did cross us during our hike, so I think the area is meant for mountain biking too. The trail is wider than normal hiking trail :)
