2XU Compression Run Malaysia 2013 Race Report

3rd November 2014 marks the second day of Deepavali celebration in Malaysia. It is the 2xu compression run sponsored and organized by 2xu and pinkapple as well, the first ever in Malaysia. 15km and 8km competitive run starts at 6am and 7am respectively. Prior to race registration, the participant can choose from three packages offered. So my brother and I have chosen 15km + 2xu calf guard package for this.

Let’s see what do we have in the race kit collected this time.

Race kit: Race guide + 2XU voucher + Bib number + Calf guard + Vest

The run started late due to the heavy rain at 530 am in Kuala Lumpur City Centre. When we reached there, Padang Merbok field was wet and muddy. However, it failed to stop the runners from throwing in the towel. ‘BOOOM”, and the moment has finally arrived.

The first quarter was a good warm up before going into Bukit Tunku. In the early 5km, the hills started and it was up and down since then.  In 15km category, we managed to cover the Jalan Duta & Changkat Tunku areas and some attractions e.g. Memorial Tunku Abdul Rahman in KL.

It’s always fun and exciting to be able to gather with all people, sharing the same passion, on the road in the Sunday morning. Nice view to have.

I was able to make it approximately 2 hours, slower than expected, thanks to the numbers of high (>60°) slope in Bukit Tunku ( *PB = 1.66 hr for 16km) . The 6 water stations were more than enough for self-hydration. In overall, the 2xu run is a good one for all runners, especially for those who enjoyed much the green and breeze along the route.
