Taiwan - Jenn Lann Temple (镇澜宫) & DaJia Old Street (大甲老街)
After
staying a night at FengJia (逢甲), we moved north back to Taipei (台北) by train. We
stopped by at DaJia (大甲) before reaching TaiPei to hunt for
some food and loiter around.
Information
board showing direction to Jenn Lann Temple (镇澜宫) at the exit
of DaJia railway station. This temple considered is the biggest attraction of
this small town with only around 5minutes walk from the railway station.
Jenn Lann
Temple (镇澜宫) was built over 200 years ago which attracts
thousands of worshippers to come to pay respect to Mazu (妈祖), known as
the chief of all goddess. This is the most famous Mazu temples in Taiwan,
because of its age and also its beautiful cravings around the temple.
Jenn Lann
Temple (镇澜宫) during day time. The temple is located on
DaJia Old Street (大甲老街).
Jenn Lann
Temple (镇澜宫) at night.
This old
truck is a joss paper (金银纸) selling truck! So cute lol.
Lantern
decorations outside Jenn Lann Temple.
We walked
around DaJia Old Street (大甲老街) which located on ShunTian Road (顺天路).
Spotted
some huge traditional pancakes!
Had some
flour-rice noodles with baby oyster and squid soup. The noodles are similar
with the one we had at AY-Chung Flour-rice noodles (阿宗面线) at XiMenDing (西门町), only that this one is with baby oyster and
XiMenDing’s one the soup is much nicer :P
The squid
soup is simple, only with some squids, vege and ginger slices but it tastes
good!
Had some
street food too. This is just like our keropok lekor, with milder taste. Locals named it 甜不辣.
After
frying and coated with some chili powder.
Spotted
mascot of ChungHwa Telecom along DaJia Old Street :) We were using a 10-day
tourist package (calling and internet plan) from ChungHwa Telecom during our
trip at Taiwan. The coverage is good! We can even access to internet during our
stay in a tea farm at ShiZuo (石卓).
Some kids with
their school uniforms and bags. One whole set, so cute!
Start
raining at night and temperature dropped drastically again @.@
TaiPei, we
are coming back to you!
Ciao~
